Have you or a loved one recently been involved in a car accident?

Car accidents by their very nature can throw your life for a spin, and it's understandable that you might not know what to do. First, know that your physical, mental and emotional health are all our top most priority. Second know that even if you did not feel bad enough to seek treatment immediately after the accident, it is in your best interest to be evaluated by a qualified health care professional. Third, most car accident victims are surprised to learn that their primary care physician will not see them for injuries sustained in a car accident. Neptune Chiropractic and Wellness is the center of your care, where you can be evaluated and treated for your car crash related injuries. We work closely with Neurosurgeons and Orthopedic Doctors to ensure all your post accident needs are met.

Three steps to take if you are involved in a car crash in Florida:

1. For auto insurance (Personal Injury Protection, 'PIP') to cover your medical bills, you must begin treating within 14 days of your accident. In 2013 Florida legislature amended the no-fault act, in particular adding the "14 day rule" which states the car accident victim must seek initial treatment and care within 14 days of the car accident to claim medical benefits. This may sound okay but often hurts injured motorists as no one is likely to tell you this at the scene of your accident, and if seek care or treatment after the 14th day, your care or treatment will not be covered under PIP.

2. Schedule initial treatment or care immediately! The key term here is 'initial treatment', and initial treatment can begin with a Chiropractor. An integrated practice like Neptune Chiropractic and Wellness is the access point allowing you to access all your accident related healthcare needs including: chiropractic care, x-rays, MRI, including medical and surgical referrals.

3. Consider seeking legal counsel. Auto insurance companies retain legal counsel, and having a lawyer of your own to navigate your car accident related legal proceedings including communications with your auto insurance company can greatly simplify a very complicated process in your time of need, allowing you to focus on your recovery.

Why chiropractic after a car accident

Our patients who have been involved in a car accident often exhibit symptoms of herniated or bulging discs, whiplash, muscle, ligament or nerve pain, and bone or facet joint injuries. Chiropractic care can alleviate the pain associated with a car injury by reducing inflammation, restoring motion, preventing worsening of the pain or additional pains, and decreasing medication use

Chiropractic: An important link in your chain of care

After your car accident you may see several different health care professionals in your recovery journey, but most patients will spend the greatest amount of time with their chiropractor.
